returning to animation properly for the first time in years, I hit a lot of hurdles that hindered the completedness of my submission for the Friday Night Funkin’ jam. I make for a always wanting to be pushing my skills to their limits and into new realms, and while it had taken me away from animating for many years, it was all because I was honing the skills that were adjacent.
for this project I wanted to push myself to be better at rigging. I learned a lot, but the lack of focus in other areas of the animation shows. it was super rushed, and the rendering time was pushing my friendship with the ambiguous deadline. Would’ve probably gotten it in early if I hadn’t wasted so much time modelling mounts and animating all the speaking that I did, before pulling the process entirely due to my face rigging being mostly unworkable - thus the face masks.
there’s so many mistakes and glitches that I just did not have the time to address. Maybe if it’s received well, I could update it, but I’m expecting it to just be a little forgotten nugget that probably won’t warrant the time tidying it up. But I took away from this experience the knowledge that I am actually pretty capable at 3D animating, modelling and rigging. Confident enough that maybe I’ll be more inclined to make content for other people again soon.
pico day’s coming up, and I already have this rig...
